Celebrate Women’s History Month with Georgia O’Keeffe on the Big Screen

As March marks the beginning of Women’s History Month, there is no better time to honor the trailblazers who redefined the American aesthetic. Chief among these icons is Georgia O’Keeffe, the “Mother of American Modernism,” whose life and vision are currently being celebrated on big screens nationwide.

The documentary “Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light” has spent the past year illuminating the story of this fierce, independent artist. From her stark desert landscapes to her evocative florals, the film captures the spirit of a woman who refused to be defined by the constraints of her time. I was lucky enough to catch a screening in her former home of Taos, NM last summer and the film was mesmerizing in that beautiful desert location.

Over the past year, the film has traveled to more than 90 theaters across America, connecting communities through the power of visual storytelling. However, this celebrated theatrical run is reaching its conclusion. The journey will officially wrap up on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10.

Coming Soon to Home Screens

While there is a unique magic in seeing O’Keeffe’s vast horizons on the big screen with a theater full of fellow fans, the film will soon be accessible to everyone. “Georgia O’Keeffe: The Brightness of Light” is scheduled for release on Amazon, Apple TV, and Google Play later this year. Stay tuned!
